Two people, two cities, one holiday together. Afterwards we asked ourselves: where do we keep all this? The photos, the voice messages, the small moments. They are nobody else's business.
Every app we tried was full of ads. Or it didn't take privacy seriously. So we built Munkki. It is the app we wanted to use ourselves.

Everything is encrypted on your phone. Only then does it go to our servers. We use the proven Signal Protocol for this.

Munkki came out in September 2025. Since then we build it together with the people who use it. A little more every week. On 1 September 2026 it turned one.

Munkki is not a social network. There is no public feed. You start on your own. If you want, you invite people into your huddle. A huddle fits up to 7 people.
Your huddle can react to your memories with comments, GIFs and stickers. Or with a Munkki: a short message like “Thinking of you” or “Good morning”.
Because real closeness only happens in a small circle.

A Munkki is a short message to someone in your huddle. For example “Thinking of you” or “Good morning”. Sometimes a small sign is enough.

Munkki is the Finnish word for a doughnut. Something small and sweet. The app used to be called Huddle. But many other apps and companies use that name too. So we picked a name of our own. The word huddle stays. A huddle is your small group of people in Munkki.
